Lake Tahoe Camping.

Every year, my family and I go camping somewhere. This year, we went with our friends the Holts to Emerald Bay State Park. While it was no DL Bliss or Pfeiffer Big Sur, camping somehwere new is always interesting. It was certainly nice to get away from the hot Sacramento weather; in fact, the weather was drastically different.

Here is a picture of a little town we passed through on the way there...A VERY little town:

Anyway, we had a little bit of time to set up and enjoy climbing on the rocks before the storm hit.
"Ah glorious boulders"

Happy campers!

The rain began right after setting up, and continued ALL NIGHT LONG. Our tent is not as water proof as it looks. We we drenched in the morning, all of our rain gear/shoes allong with us. It was terrible, but it gave us a good excuse to go out and have a nice breakfast! I ate hash browns and seasonal berries. It was yummy.

That afternoon we were pleasantly surprised by the arrival of the sun, and we used the opportunity to go on a hike to Vikingsholm at Emerald Bay. It was part of the Rubicon trail, which is several miles, but our hike was only 1.7 miles. It was pretty because we could look out and see the lake. There were also waterfalls, Osprey nests, and wooden bridges.

An Osprey perched in a tree.

One of the waterfalls.

Admiring the waterfall.

It was very blue.

Stoping for a rest. And yes, I was hiking barefoot. Shoes are for conformists.Later at Vikingsholm, we were harassed by chipmunks, who are not affraid of anything and will climb on your feet. But look, they're soooooo cute!

This is a little caterpillar I saw, but I'm not sure what it is.

The next day, we went on another hike to Cascade Falls. I was very excited.

A view of Cascade Lake, With Lake Tahoe behind it.

Sitting by the waterfall.

Family.

We got back in the afternoon and went to a small beach.

The beach we went to the next day was better. We drove to DL Bliss and hung out at Callowee Cove. It was so beautiful that I braved the cold and jumped in to the water for the first time during that trip.

The lovely beach.

Me and my sunhat.

Standing in the water.

Preparing to jump in. I was actually on a rock that you can't see.

Almost...

After I jumped in, I looked like I had a mullet.

And here are some pictures from our last day, just hanging out. Also, a lizard and some moths/butterflies that we saw.

These moths were found in random places, and the brown one fell in some soapy water and dried off while sitting on my finger.

Anyone know what these are called?

That is all. I hope everyone is having a nice summer so far.
